Western Kenya politician Jack Wamboka has vowed that the spirits of his political allies will endure despite recent losses, reacting emotionally to the death of former politician Cyrus Jirongo.
Speaking publicly, Wamboka referenced past leaders like former President Moi and politician Biwott, noting that even their passing did not deter the spirit of leadership among their communities. He expressed disappointment that President William Ruto had not issued a public statement following Jirongo’s death.
“Hata Moi na Biwott walikufa, serikali haitatutisha. Even if they kill us the way they’ve killed Jirongo, our spirits will still live on. I expected the president to give the brief which he has not done. Jirongo alikuwa mwanaume kushinda hawa viongozi. Waluhya tuko nao,” Wamboka said.
His remarks have highlighted tensions within the political landscape in Western Kenya, with some interpreting them as a call for unity and resilience among local leaders, while others view them as a critique of the current administration’s response to the passing of influential figures.
The statement underscores the enduring influence of regional political figures like Jirongo and the emotional resonance their deaths have on supporters.
