Gospel Singer Justina Syokau Now Asks Kenyans for Help, Says Her Son Has Not Eaten for Weeks

Gospel singer Justina Syokau has made an emotional appeal for assistance, revealing the struggles she faces as a single mother trying to provide for her son. Known for her lively performances and the hit song Twendi Twendi, Syokau recently shared her ordeal during a church service at Bishop Ben Kiengei’s JCM, tearfully recounting the hardships she has endured.

She disclosed that her son has been unwell and has gone without food for weeks. On Sunday, October 13, Syokau revealed that her child’s father, a prominent figure, abandoned them, leaving her homeless and battling to make ends meet. To survive, she resorted to doing menial jobs, including working as a house help.

Syokau explained to the congregation that even attending the service was a challenge, as she had to borrow money for an Uber. Her son’s deteriorating health has been a constant worry, compounded by the loans she took out in 2023 to cover medical expenses when pleas for help from her peers in the gospel industry went unanswered.

Expressing her frustration, Syokau said, “My son is hungry,” highlighting the isolation she feels from those she once considered friends and allies.

Bishop Ben Kiengei responded by urging Syokau to reflect on her actions and words, suggesting that some of her challenges may stem from spiritual battles. He encouraged her to focus on personal growth and positive change to secure a better future for her son.

“The more you fight with people, the more they fight back, and some of their curses land on your son,” he cautioned.
