Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has heaped praise on former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i while launching a sharp attack on current Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen.
Speaking during a public address, Gachagua argued that Murkomen’s leadership cannot be compared to that of Matiang’i. He described Matiang’i as a serious and highly professional public servant whose work at the Ministry of Interior was visible and impactful.
According to Gachagua, Matiang’i maintained order without what he termed excessive use of force and upheld discipline within the security sector. In contrast, he accused Murkomen of displaying poor leadership traits, warning that continued actions of that nature could heighten tensions in the country.
The remarks have added to the growing political debate over security management and leadership styles at the Interior Ministry, as leaders continue to position themselves ahead of the 2027 political season.
