Family reveals what killed gospel singer Samuel Ilagosa as Emmy Kosgei, Gloria Muliro mourns

Samuel Ilagosa, better known by his stage name Ilagosa wa Ilagosa, a pastor and gospel musician, has passed away.

On Friday, February 3, 2023, the gospel musician who rose to popularity with his blockbuster song “Sala Zangu” passed away after a short illness.

Reports say that he died while getting treatment at a public hospital in Lang’ata.

The deceased’s buddy, Musalia Mudambi, said that he had been ill for two months.

‘‘He has been unwell for about a month now and I am trying to reach to his family so that I get more information on the cause of his death,’’Mudambi explained.

‘‘This was a guy you could hold on for any advice and comfort at any given time. Through his creativity, Ilagosa made immense impact which not only elevated the Luhya musician who touched the lives of many. Ian heartbroken to have lost such a talented and kind soul,’’ Mudambi added.

Associates in the gospel ministry and acquaintances who remembered their last experiences with him grieved his passing.

The deceased had suffered heart and lung related illness that led to his admission in hospital.

Grammy-winning gospel singer Gloria Muliro told of his death and said that a committee is being put together to give him a proper send-off. 

“Ah! Jamani😭 We have lost our brother Ilagosa Wa Ilagosa. We are planning for a committee to see how will bury one of us.” Gloria Muliro wrote.

Some of his songs include Sala Zangu, Mungu Atakupigania, and Sema Nami.
