Kenyan comedian turned philanthropist, Eric Omondi, has once again demonstrated his commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of those in need. In a recent act of generosity, he successfully raised over Sh480,000 to assist a mother in Mathare whose landlord had removed the roof due to rent arrears.
The distressing situation of this mother, identified as Florence Odhiambo, was initially brought to public attention by Priscilla Waimani, who had personally visited her. Upon learning about Florence’s plight, Eric Omondi promptly took action and appealed to Kenyans for support through his initiative, “Team Sisi Kwa Sisi.”
As of January 24, 2024, Omondi shared with his fans and followers that they had collectively raised at least Sh480,000 for Florence. In an update, he expressed gratitude and encouraged continued contributions, emphasizing the transformative impact they could make on the widow and her children’s lives.
Before initiating the online fundraiser, Eric Omondi had promised to improve Florence’s situation, highlighting that she had endured two days without a roof over her head after the landlord’s drastic action. He emphasized the urgency of the matter, drawing attention to the challenging living conditions the widow and her two children faced, especially during the recent rainy weekend.
In a rallying call, Omondi urged supporters to contribute to Florence’s cause, stressing the power of collective action in bringing about positive change. This philanthropic effort aligns with Omondi’s broader initiatives, such as building two bridges in Kisii County through his “Sisi Kwa Sisi” initiative, showcasing his dedication to making a lasting impact on communities in need.
