Drama as black Cat prevent buyer from leaving shop without paying

A significant portion of Africans harbor superstitions related to cats, with varied beliefs prevailing among different tribes. While some communities associate cats with bad omens, others attribute connections to cults, sorcery, and devil worship. Despite these prevailing beliefs, a recent incident in Mombasa serves as evidence that cats can indeed make excellent pets.

Reported by Taifa Leo, a captivating story unfolded in Malindi town where a cat played a pivotal role in saving a shopkeeper a considerable sum of money. The incident unfolded when a cunning buyer attempted to leave without making payment, taking advantage of the shopkeeper’s preoccupation with serving other customers.

The buyer, having received his ordered items, noticed the shopkeeper’s busy state and seized the opportunity to execute a plan with military precision. Patiently waiting until the shopkeeper’s attention was diverted, the buyer quietly attempted to exit the premises unnoticed.

However, just as the buyer was on the verge of making a successful escape, a large black cat made a sudden appearance, emitting a menacing growl. The cat thwarted the buyer-turned-thief’s attempt to leave, blocking his way and daring him to confront it head-on.

The commotion attracted onlookers, and the buyer swiftly realized his mistake. Overcome with guilt, he retraced his steps to the shop and promptly made the full payment. The shopkeeper, wearing a smile, reminded the buyer, “Hapa hauwezi enda bila kulipa” (“You can’t leave here without paying”).

In a separate account, a Kenyan man shared his astonishment on social media after encountering a unique self-selling charcoal system in Kitui. Charcoal was strategically placed along the roads, complete with price tags and designated money bins. The man marveled at the level of trust among Kitui residents, learning that sellers employed special mechanisms (juju) to deter thieves. Any attempt to leave without paying would result in the unwitting offender lingering until the seller arrived.
