Christina Shusho set to perform on 31st Dec in Kenya due to high demand from Kenyans’

Tanzanian gospel artist Christina Shusho is scheduled to grace the Kenyan stage in December, responding to the overwhelming demand from her fans. Confirming the upcoming event on her official X account, Shusho shared that she is teaming up with media personality Daniel Ndambuki, also known as Churchill, to organize a concert on December 31, 2023.

Addressing the increasing clamor for a concert in Kenya, she expressed her excitement about collaborating with Churchill to make the event a reality, stating, “Due to the rising demand for a concert in Kenya, my team and I are partnering with Mwalim Churchill to organize a concert on December 31, 2023.”

This announcement closely followed a stir on social media regarding Shusho’s use of scripture in her song lyrics. A video surfaced, revealing that the inspiration for her song “Shusha Nyavu” was derived from the Book of Luke, Chapter 5, verse 4. The song narrates the story of Jesus and his quest for disciples, particularly emphasizing the interaction between Jesus and Simon Peter on the shores of the Sea of Galilee.

The lyrics quoted from the Bible read, “Yesu alipokwisha kunena, alimwambia Simoni, tweka mpaka kilindini, mkashushe nyavu zenu. Bwana mkubwa tumefanya kazi ya kuchosha usiku kucha, Bwana mkubwa tumefanya kazi ata tusipate kitu.”

Shusho faced accusations of plagiarism and a lack of originality, prompting discussions on various social media platforms. Despite the criticism, some devoted fans of her music rallied in her defense. They argued that referencing the Bible is a common practice among preachers and gospel singers.

Comments from supporters included sentiments like, “I am surprised you guys are surprised. This is how gospel music is supposed to be. Sing from the scriptures,” and “She’s making salvation sweeter because the moment you start listening to her songs, you most definitely feel uplifted whether Christian or not! I said what I said.”

Others expressed their admiration for Shusho’s messages, with one fan stating, “How I love her messages… in fact, I will love them more if they are direct from the BIBLE. I wake up to listen to her glorifying songs.” Another user added, “Getting to know the songs are directly from the Bible sounds even much better. Get me a Shusho.”
