Boy Set on Fire By his Brothers in Mandera Succumbs

In a shocking new development, a boy who was set ablaze by his siblings in Mandera has passed on.

The 14-year-old boy, a class seven student at Kamor Primary School, succumbed to the burn injuries Wednesday morning while undergoing treatment at Mandera County Teaching and Referral hospital.

“The boy had put up a brave fight for his life, but towards 2 am this morning, he gave up and went to be with the Lord. His distraught father Abdullah Hassan, who couldn’t come to terms with the loss of his beloved son, shed tears of pain and anguish as he reported his death to our officers,” the Directorate of Criminal Investigations said on Wednesday.

The perished was set ablaze by his elder siblings who feared that he may testify against one of them for taking a cell phone.

The siblings, Ibrahim Ahmed Shaur, 20 and Yusuf Ahmed Shaur, 17, had tricked their kid brother to their home before they they rolled him up in a mattress doused in petrol and set him on fire.

The student had been accused for being a witness for a situation that his sibling Ibrahim Ahmed, was blamed for stealing a cell phone.

In the wake of setting him ablaze, the siblings went into hiding leaving their younger sibling for dead.

Police officers rushed to the burning house and managed to rescue the boy. They took him to Mandera County Referral Hospital, where he was admitted in serious condition.

The siblings were later arrested and detained at Mandera Police station to face murder indictments.
