Activist and politician Boniface Mwangi has criticized former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, accusing him of undermining revolutionary movements and prioritizing personal gain over the welfare of ordinary citizens.
Mwangi claimed that Raila “stopped the revolution” and struck deals that benefited only himself, leaving the communities he relied on without tangible benefits. He described Raila as someone who used poor citizens to achieve his political ambitions, while the majority of those communities never saw the rewards of his actions.
“It’s so sad that he struck a deal and did not live long enough to enjoy the fruits of that deal,” Mwangi said. “Raila is a rich individual who has been using the poor to get what he wants, but the poor people he has been using have never benefited.”
Mwangi’s remarks have sparked debate online, with supporters praising his candor and critics arguing that his statements oversimplify complex political history. Analysts note that the comments highlight ongoing frustrations among citizens who feel marginalized despite years of political leadership.
The activist’s statements come amid broader conversations about accountability, governance, and the role of political leaders in delivering tangible development to ordinary Kenyans.
