Kenyan musician and entrepreneur Esther Akoth, widely known as Akothee, recently opened up about her past relationship and subsequent breakup with her ex-husband, Denis Schweizer, who was famously known as Omosh.
In a live social media session, Akothee candidly shared insights into the reasons behind their separation, revealing that shortly after their wedding, she discovered certain aspects of their relationship that proved to be unsustainable.
“When we were on our honeymoon, I began to realize certain things that I couldn’t come to terms with. In July, he asked me if I would leave him, but I reassured him, saying, ‘No, baby, I love you.’ However, in truth, I had already mentally checked out,” Akothee explained.
The mother of five went on to describe how she made the difficult decision to end the relationship in June because she refused to continue forcing something that wasn’t working.
“I made the decision to leave the relationship back in June. We had to part ways because it was clear that our relationship was no longer functioning. I am not one to push a failing connection; when it’s not working for me, it’s simply not working,” she emphasized.
Akothee also expressed that she doesn’t harbor regrets about their wedding because it was something she genuinely desired at the time, and she values the memories captured in the footage.
“Denis Schweizer came into my life during a period when I was going through a lot. We’ve come a long way, and he provided the support I needed when I needed it. I cherished the time I spent with him, and I’m grateful for all the experiences, including our time living together. I’m thankful for all the flight tickets he bought for me. However, it became evident that our relationship was not meant to be,” Akothee reflected.
Akothee and Denis celebrated their wedding on Easter Monday at the Windsor Golf Club in a grand event attended by government officials and celebrities.
