The Kenyan Police Service has honored Commissioner of Police Beatrice Kiraguri, popularly known as “Mama Yao,” as a standout figure in the country’s security sector.
Her journey is a powerful example of dedication and perseverance, rising through the ranks from a Police Constable to become the first woman to serve as the County Police Commander in Nakuru. Her career reflects years of discipline, resilience, and consistent commitment to duty.
Kiraguri holds a Master’s degree in Governance, blending strong academic grounding with practical experience in law enforcement. Her professional growth has also been shaped by international exposure, including service with the United Nations in Ethiopia and specialized training in China, which have strengthened her leadership and operational capabilities.
She currently serves as the Officer in Charge of the Northern Corridor Transit Patrol Unit, where she oversees security along one of the region’s most vital trade routes, ensuring smooth and safe movement of goods and people.
Her steady rise continues to inspire many, particularly women seeking to build careers in the disciplined forces, proving that determination and hard work can break barriers in traditionally male-dominated fields.
