Ruth Odinga has issued a cautionary message to members of the “Tutam” choir in ODM who are seen as supportive of President William Ruto.
In a statement, Ruth questioned the reliability of pre-election pacts with President Ruto, recalling a previous agreement he signed with a man who allegedly helped stabilize Kenya during the Gen-Z protests. She asked rhetorically: if Ruto did not fully honor that earlier deal, how certain can anyone be that he will respect the pre-election arrangements currently being discussed?
Ruth further noted that the responsibility does not lie with the committee tasked with implementing the 10-point agenda (COIN-10). “The buck stops with the bearer of the signature in the MoU, who is none other than President William Ruto,” she emphasized. She also indicated that the matter’s outcome will be clearer by March 7, suggesting that the public and political observers should wait until then to see how the agreements unfold.
The remarks have sparked reactions online, with some seeing them as a pointed warning to ODM members close to Ruto, while others interpret them as highlighting the unpredictability of political alliances ahead of the 2027 elections.
Political analysts note that Ruth’s comments underscore ongoing tensions between party loyalty and cross-party alliances, as well as the importance of scrutinizing agreements before committing to long-term political collaborations.
