‘Jirongo Alinitoa Block!’ — Huddah Monroe Reveals How Cyrus Jirongo Changed Her Life

Kenyan socialite and entrepreneur Huddah Monroe has paid an emotional and deeply personal tribute to the late former Lugari Member of Parliament Cyrus Jirongo, shedding light on a lesser-known side of the veteran politician. Her message revealed that beyond his public stature, Jirongo once played a pivotal role in her personal journey at a critical moment in her life.

In a brief but powerful message shared online, Huddah remembered Jirongo as more than a political heavyweight. She credited him with helping her overcome a serious challenge when she needed support the most. Though her words were few, they carried deep meaning and immediately resonated with many Kenyans.

“RIP J. Watu say Luhyas hawatoi pesa, but this one alinitoa block. Ile block serious. Mad respect,” she wrote.

The phrase “alinitoa block,” loosely translated to mean that he helped her out of a serious predicament, quickly captured public attention. Social media users began reflecting on the unseen ways influential figures quietly shape lives beyond the public eye, often without recognition or publicity.

Huddah’s tribute came just hours after news broke that Cyrus Jirongo had died in a tragic road accident early Saturday morning, December 13, 2025. According to police reports, the 64-year-old politician was driving alone at around 3:00 a.m. when his vehicle was involved in a head-on collision with a Climax Coach bus along the Nairobi–Nakuru Highway. He died at the scene.

Jirongo was a towering figure in Kenya’s political history. He rose to national prominence in the early 1990s as the leader of Youth for KANU ’92, a powerful political lobby group. He later served as the Member of Parliament for Lugari Constituency, briefly held the Rural Development docket, and went on to found the Kenya African Democratic Development Union (KADDU). His influence extended beyond politics into business and national discourse.

As tributes continue to pour in from politicians, business leaders, and members of the public, Huddah Monroe’s message has stood out for its raw honesty and humanity. Rather than focusing on titles or political achievements, her words highlighted the personal impact Jirongo had on individual lives. In doing so, she reminded Kenyans that legacy is not only built through public service, but also through quiet acts of help that change lives forever.
