Kenyan tree-hugging sensation Truphena Muthoni has alleged that the Principal Secretary for Environment and Climate Change, Festus Ng’eno, intentionally blocked her efforts to pursue the 72-hour tree-hugging world record in Brazil.
In a statement shared online, Truphena expressed disappointment, claiming that despite submitting all required documents, the PS refused to sign off on the necessary approvals.
“PS for Environment & Climate Change, Festus Ng’eno blocked me and refused to sign to allow me to try the 72-hour tree-hugging world record in Brazil,” she lamented.
Truphena’s allegation has sparked conversations on social media, with many Kenyans questioning why a climate-related pursuit—especially one that could place Kenya on the global environmental map—would be hindered by government bureaucracy.
Her supporters argue that she deserved institutional backing, especially after gaining massive public attention for her previous attempts. Others are calling for clarity from the Ministry of Environment regarding the decision.
