Kisii gospel artist Isaac Nyaribo has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after a 13-year-old girl who had been reported missing was discovered hidden inside his bedroom.
According to police reports, the minor had disappeared from her home for several days, prompting a search by family and authorities. She was eventually traced to Nyaribo’s house, where officers found her locked in the musician’s bedroom.
The gospel singer was immediately arrested and charged with child trafficking and defilement-related offences. The court ruled that the evidence presented was sufficient to secure a conviction, handing him a 20-year jail term.
The sentencing has sparked outrage among parents and church communities in Kisii, who have condemned the incident and urged stricter protection of minors.
Authorities have also reminded the public to report suspicious behaviour involving children to help prevent similar cases.
