Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga has expressed concern over what she describes as growing signs of distrust within the broad-based government arrangement, even as she reaffirmed her commitment to the political path set by ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Speaking during a recent event, Wanga clarified that she is the one who initiated requests for development projects in Homa Bay County, not Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo. She accused the PS of portraying himself as the main champion of development in the region, saying the credit for certain initiatives was being misrepresented.
Wanga stated that while she remains fully part of the broad-based government, she has sensed actions from some quarters that suggest an element of distrust toward her leadership and role.
The governor emphasized that her presence in the national government setup is guided by Raila Odinga’s decision to engage, noting that he left ODM leaders within the arrangement and that they intend to follow his political direction “even in spirit.”
She also revealed that there are individuals pushing for ODM leaders to withdraw from the government, but insisted that they are not considering such a move. According to Wanga, their position remains firm unless directed otherwise by Raila.
Her remarks come amid ongoing political realignments and debates over the role of ODM leaders in the broad-based government, especially as the country heads toward heightened activity ahead of the 2027 elections.
