Ford-Kenya Party leader Moses Wetangula has made a passionate appeal to the Luhya community, urging them not to allow personal disagreements to undermine his leadership. Speaking in a public address, Wetangula emphasized that respect and unity should guide political decisions, particularly concerning local disputes.
“Waluhya, msikubali mtoto mdogo kama Natembeya anikosee heshima,” he said, calling on his community not to take offense on his behalf in minor disagreements. Wetangula further highlighted the political strength of other ethnic communities, noting that in regions dominated by Kikuyu, Kamba, or Luo voters, no single individual could challenge figures such as President Uhuru Kenyatta, former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, or Prime Cabinet Secretary Raila Odinga.
He concluded with a forward-looking message, urging the Luhya people to remain loyal to his leadership: “Nawaomba mnishikilie kama kiongozi wenu mpaka nikuwe rais wa hii nchi 2032,” signaling his ambitions for the presidency and appealing for sustained grassroots support.
Political analysts observe that Wetangula’s remarks reflect broader coalition dynamics in Kenya, where community loyalty and strategic alliances often shape the prospects of future presidential candidates. His appeal underscores the importance of unity and measured responses in maintaining influence within a diverse and competitive political landscape.
