CS Mutua says-“Everyday , between 300 and 500 Kenyans are leaving the country for decent jobs abroad because our labour is trusted”

Cabinet Secretary Simon Chelugui Mutua has shed light on the growing trend of Kenyans seeking employment abroad, emphasizing the high demand for Kenyan labor due to its reliability and professionalism.

Speaking recently, CS Mutua stated:

“Every day, between 300 and 500 Kenyans are leaving the country for decent jobs abroad because our labour is trusted.”

He noted that this migration reflects the strong reputation Kenyans have built internationally for their skills and work ethic. While acknowledging the economic opportunities abroad, Mutua also highlighted the need to ensure that Kenyans benefit from training, fair recruitment, and proper support systems to protect their rights while working overseas.

The statement comes amid increasing global demand for skilled and semi-skilled workers, particularly in sectors such as healthcare, construction, and domestic services. Analysts say Kenya’s labor migration contributes significantly to remittances, which bolster household incomes and the national economy.
