Former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Nelson Havi has sparked controversy after calling on Tanzanian authorities to account for Kenyans allegedly missing since the onset of recent protests.
In a strongly worded statement, Havi urged President Samia Suluhu Hassan to allow transparency in investigations and to clarify the fate of those reported missing. “Tupee miili ya Wakenya wetu tuzike!” (“Give us the bodies of our fellow Kenyans so we can bury them!”), Havi said while addressing the media.
Although Havi’s remarks have attracted widespread attention online, no official confirmation or evidence has been released to support the allegations of mass killings. Both the Tanzanian and Kenyan governments have not issued formal statements regarding the claims.
Political analysts have urged caution, calling for independent investigations and the need for accurate information before drawing conclusions.
