My name is Yusuf, and I grew up in Nairobi, Kenya. Ever since I was a child, I struggled in school. I often found myself at the bottom of the class, and my classmates never missed an opportunity to mock and humiliate me. They would laugh when I gave wrong answers, call me “slow,” and even make jokes about my future. At that time, I felt hopeless and thought that no matter how hard I tried, I would never achieve anything meaningful in life.
For years, I carried the burden of shame and low self-esteem. I tried studying harder, taking extra lessons, and even helping other students in hopes that one day I could catch up.
