Robert Alai: “Lazima tufukuze Sifuna kutoka ODM by November, he is Gachagua’s mole”

Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai has stirred fresh controversy within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) after calling for the immediate expulsion of party Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna. Speaking during a local political forum, Alai alleged that Sifuna is secretly working with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to destabilize the party from within.

Lazima tufukuze Sifuna kutoka ODM by November. Sifuna ni mole wa Gachagua ndani ya ODM,” Alai declared, accusing Sifuna of sabotaging the unity and progress of the party at a critical time. His statement comes amid heightened infighting and uncertainty over ODM’s future leadership following the death of Raila Odinga.

Alai, known for his outspoken nature, claimed that Sifuna’s recent remarks and actions have exposed him as someone who no longer represents the party’s interests. He insisted that allowing Sifuna to remain in his position would be dangerous for ODM’s survival, warning that his alleged ties with government figures were part of a bigger plan to weaken the opposition.

However, close allies of Sifuna have dismissed Alai’s allegations as baseless and politically motivated. They defended the Secretary-General as a loyal ODM member committed to upholding Raila’s legacy and guiding the party through its transition period.

The heated exchange reflects the growing cracks within ODM, as rival factions battle for control and influence. Some members are pushing for closer collaboration with President William Ruto’s administration, while others want ODM to remain a strong, independent opposition force.

As the party grapples with its next chapter, Alai’s explosive claims have further intensified internal tensions — raising questions about whether ODM can maintain unity amid the shifting political landscape
