A chilling confession from a 28-year-old man has shed new light on the brutal killing of Bomet businesswoman Eva Rachel Chepkemoi Ruto.
Wesley Koech was arrested after allegedly admitting to stabbing the 48-year-old mother and grandmother, whose lifeless body was discovered in her home last month.
Appearing in court, Koech confessed that he had been romantically involved with Ruto but became enraged upon learning she was seeing other men. Investigators say a heated argument between the two spiraled out of control, ending in her violent death.
Forensic experts at the scene made disturbing discoveries, including used condoms near the bed, raising questions about possible sexual assault. Detectives also recovered a knife believed to be the murder weapon, a bloodied towel, and a ring suspected to belong to the deceased.
Koech was later tracked down and arrested in Kericho. He now faces murder charges and is undergoing psychological evaluation as the probe continues.
The shocking case has rattled the community, with leaders and residents demanding swift justice and stronger measures to curb rising cases of intimate partner violence.
