Ata Mama Mboga anaweza: Sio Lazima ukuweexpert to run ICT ministry in Kenya- CS Kabogo

ICT and Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo has stated that one does not need to be a technocrat to lead the ministry effectively. He believes strong leadership is more important than being an ICT expert.

Kabogo pointed to his past experience as Kiambu Governor and Juja MP as proof of his leadership skills, which earned him President William Ruto’s trust and a place in the Cabinet.

“You don’t need to be a surgeon to run a hospital. If you stay updated, you can lead in ICT,” he told Capital FM.

Kabogo revealed that he found challenges in the ministry, including poor record-keeping and demotivated staff. He introduced reforms, such as biometric systems, to improve operations.

“I go to offices myself to understand what’s happening. My energy is driving change,” he said.

He aims to be the first CS to fully digitize government, and confirmed that his ministry went paperless on April 7, 2025.

Kabogo also plans to launch an online platform for public engagement, allowing Kenyans to voice their concerns and interact with leaders directly.
