Artist Vivianne recently shocked her fans by sharing a deeply emotional video on Instagram where she revealed her decision to renounce Christianity.
In the video, Vivianne explained that her faith in Christianity has been shattered by the pain and suffering she has endured in her life.
“Do you want to know why I no longer believe in Christianity? I feel like I have no choice but to share. The foundations of Christianity are built on control and fear. It’s about living your entire life according to what’s written in a book. Every decision you make, everything about who you are, is dictated by this book,” Vivianne shared.
She expressed her disillusionment with how people have used the Bible to justify harmful actions and then evade accountability, finding solace in the scriptures to validate their behavior.
“I believe in the power of our spirits, the power of creation. I believe we are all connected as part of the universe. I believe in the strength of humanity because I believe that within each of us lies our own divinity,” Vivianne continued.
Vivianne also spoke about her frustration with the Bible’s portrayal of women, describing it as a text that diminishes the value of women by presenting them as secondary to men.
“This book treats women as an afterthought, created after everything else, including men. Yet, it’s women who bring life into the world. How can we say that this book has the authority to guide us? It simply cannot,” she argued.
She went on to describe Christianity as an oppressive force, saying, “Christianity is like a disease that takes over our minds. It’s an institution designed to empower a few while stripping power from many.”
Vivianne also hinted that her discontent with Christianity was influenced by a past relationship with someone who claimed to be a servant of God but caused her significant pain and suffering.
“I’ve been to Bible school, and it was a positive experience. But I’ve also been in a relationship with someone who called himself a servant of God, and the pain, suffering, and control that came with it can be devastating. So believe me when I say that Christianity is a harmful ideology,” she concluded.
