Kenyan media personality and former Presidential Spokesperson Kanze Dena has shared her experience of surviving without a salary for the past two years.
Dena disclosed that she has been relying on her savings, which have been crucial in sustaining her through this period. “I urge Kenyans to start saving because savings helped me. That’s when I truly understood the importance of savings, and I thank God for savings circles and all the opportunities to save, because such days do come,” she said.
Despite recognizing early signs of financial instability, Dena chose to persevere rather than give up, holding onto hope that better days would come.
Previously, Dena mentioned that she could not determine the exact amount of unpaid salary but confirmed that no payments had been received during this time.
The reason for the lack of payment remains unclear. Kenyan Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura addressed the issue, stating they were unaware of the matter because the names had not yet been forwarded. “Regarding Kanze Dena and another staff member from Uhuru’s office, their names have not been submitted to the State House Comptroller by the retired President for processing,” he explained.
