Police are currently investigating a murder following the discovery of a 19-year-old man’s body in Kandara, Murang’a County. The victim, identified as Lewis Mwaura Muiruri, was found in a bed with multiple injuries at his uncle’s house in Hui Village, Gakarara Sub-Location. A large stone was discovered lying on his head when the body was found on Tuesday morning.
The body was discovered by a relative, while the uncle was reportedly working in Murang’a Town at the time. Police have noted the multiple injuries on the head and are working to determine whether the bed was the primary crime scene. The motive behind the suspected murder remains unclear, and no arrests have been made yet as detectives continue their investigation. The body has been moved to General Kago Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
In a separate incident in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, the body of a man was found floating in a dam after what is suspected to be another murder. A guard at the Two Rivers Dam in Islamic Village, Kapsoya Sub-Location, reported seeing the body while on patrol. Officials from the Uasin Gishu Fire Department were called to retrieve the body. Police noted that the body showed no visible injuries at the time of discovery. It has been taken to a mortuary, where an autopsy will be performed as investigations continue.
Meanwhile, in Shibale, Mumias, Kakamega County, a 39-year-old woman named Sophy Obulialia was electrocuted while hanging clothes on a line. The incident occurred when a naked wire came into contact with the clothesline. She was rushed to St. Mary’s Hospital but passed away during treatment. Her body has been taken to the same hospital’s morgue for a postmortem examination.
In response to the incident, Kenya Power officials have been asked to inspect cables in the area to ensure the safety of residents. Such cases are common in informal settlements, where illegal power connections are often to blame. An ongoing campaign is underway to address this issue.
