For an entire decade, Shamim lived with a sense of pride, firmly believing that her husband, David, was gainfully employed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). Never did she entertain the thought that her reality was a facade.
In an interview with Anthony Ndiema on the Nisamehe show, Shamim recounted that David’s lifestyle projected an image of someone holding a well-paying job. She admitted, “There is no way I could suspect that he was lying. He would wake up very early, impeccably dressed, and head off to work.”
The revelation shattered Shamim’s world when she found herself in a heated confrontation with neighbors over water. During the argument, a woman delivered a blow that hit Shamim harder than she could have imagined: “There is no way you are special when your husband is a garbage collector,” the woman retorted.
Initially, Shamim fiercely defended her husband, but as more women supported the claims about David’s occupation, she began to suspect there might be some truth to the rumors. Determined to uncover the reality, Shamim resolved to delve deeper into the matter.
