Police in Kikuyu have arrested a University of Nairobi student accused of fatally stabbing his roommate after a quarrel over bathroom use.
The victim, identified as Brian Wambui, a third-year student, died from suspected stab wounds following the heated dispute.
Witnesses said the argument started over who should flush and clean their shared hostel toilet. The altercation quickly escalated, with friends of the deceased getting involved.
According to DCI officer Omondi Ogola, the suspect ran to the house, armed himself, and attacked during the chaos. Ogola urged students to embrace peaceful conflict resolution to prevent such tragedies.
The victim’s body has since been moved to PCEA Thogoto Hospital mortuary for post-mortem. The suspect, Justus Otieno, is being held at Kikuyu Police Station as investigations continue before his arraignment.
