Media personality Ciru Muriuki had joyfully announced her engagement to the late actor Charles Ouda in 2022. Sadly, Ouda passed away in February 2024, and a night vigil was conducted on 14th February to honor his memory.
During her heartfelt tribute, Ciru humorously mentioned that Charli would have had sufficient time to memorize the tribute she had crafted in just ten minutes. She began by expressing her disappointment at the unexpected turn of events on Valentine’s Day, stating that they were not the extravagant couple and would have likely spent the day at home, enjoying one of Charli’s renowned sandwiches.
Playfully, Ciru inquired if anyone had tasted his sandwiches, jokingly suggesting that he might have added a secret ingredient. She continued to paint a vivid picture of their typical evening, with Charli preparing a strong cocktail and reluctantly watching “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” with her.
Moving on to the more somber part of her tribute, Ciru shared her admiration for Charli’s appreciation of art in all its forms. She emphasized his child-like wonder and openness to learning from every artistic experience. Ciru credited Charli with deepening her own appreciation for creative arts, describing him as a visionary who generously shared his knowledge without wanting to withhold it.
She spoke about Charli as a vessel that poured into others, recalling the first time she saw him on stage during his time at St Mary’s. Despite initially admiring him for his charm, she never would have believed that over two decades later, this luminous man would ask her to marry him.
Reflecting on their unexpected love story, Ciru mentioned their reconnection after her return from New York following the loss of her father. A friendship evolved into something more, and despite initial resistance, they both acknowledged the undeniable connection between them.

It wasn’t about grand gestures but the comfort and easy intimacy they shared, along with a wonderfully silly friendship.
