A young woman identified as Namatovu Halima, popularly known as “Maama Kiyumba,” has tragically lost her life in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Reports indicate that Halima, who had lived and worked in the Gulf nation for five years, fell from the fourth floor of an apartment block while trying to escape immigration officials. Her visa had expired, and she was awaiting deportation at the time of the incident.
The fall left her with severe head injuries, and although she was rushed to hospital and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, she passed away after several days.
Halima was celebrated as hardworking and selfless. Through her sacrifice abroad, she managed to build three houses and often supported fellow immigrants in distress.
Her heartbreaking final words were a plea to her son, asking him to pray for her success in escaping deportation.
The family is now appealing for support to repatriate her body for burial.
