Grief and disbelief have engulfed a family in Kayole, Nairobi, after Rose Muthoni, a mother of one and businesswoman, was reportedly killed by her husband at their home in Juja, Kiambu County.
According to relatives, the tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, September 6, after Muthoni returned home late.
Her mother recounted speaking to her daughter earlier that night. “I left work around 10pm and called Rose at 12:30am. She said she was climbing the stairs to her house and explained that her vehicle had been slow. We wished each other good night,” she said.
A few hours later, Muthoni’s mother received a shocking call from her daughter’s nanny, Tracy, who had rushed to the police station after a horrifying discovery. Tracy reported that while fetching knives for Muthoni, who had planned to prepare a late-night snack, she allegedly witnessed Muthoni’s husband stabbing her.
Muthoni’s mother said the family was devastated when her daughter’s death was later confirmed. Tracy told relatives that Muthoni cried for help, and when she tried to intervene, she too was stabbed before collapsing.
The husband is also reported to have attempted to push their four-year-old son off the balcony, but Tracy managed to save him. Neighbors, alerted by the screams, rushed to the scene.
Muthoni’s body was later taken to a funeral home, while her husband was admitted to hospital. The grieving family has since visited Juja Police Station, demanding justice for their loved one.
