President William Ruto has launched a scathing attack on opposition leaders, singling out Kalonzo Musyoka during a public rally in Makueni County. The Head of State accused the opposition of lacking concrete plans, policies, and the intellectual capacity to lead the country effectively.
Speaking to a cheering crowd, Ruto questioned the credibility of Kalonzo and his allies, urging Kenyans to avoid electing leaders he described as “unprepared” for the responsibilities of governance.
“Huyu Kalonzo akiwa na wenzake hawana mpango, hawana sera, hawana agenda, akili hawana. Huyo ni mtu wa kuchagua kweli? Tusiharibu nchi yetu kwa kuchagua watu bure!” said President Ruto.
The President’s remarks come as the 2027 general elections approach, with political competition intensifying across the country. Analysts suggest that Ruto’s statements are part of a broader strategy to consolidate support in key regions by portraying the opposition as incapable of providing effective leadership.
Online reactions have been mixed. Some Kenyans applauded Ruto for speaking boldly and exposing what they perceive as the opposition’s weaknesses. Others criticized the President for attacking rivals in personal terms instead of focusing on his government’s achievements and development agenda.
As campaigns heat up, political observers say such fiery rhetoric is likely to continue, reflecting the high-stakes nature of Kenya’s political landscape ahead of the next election cycle.
