Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has recently astonished many Kenyans with his newfound super generosity. The MP has been donating millions to various churches at different events, quickly earning the nickname “Mr. Moneybags.”
For example, a report in the Standard Newspaper recently highlighted that Mr. Sudi donated up to Sh. 15 million within a few weeks in June. On one occasion, he reportedly gave Sh. 2 million in cash at a church harambee.
Earlier, Sudi, a close associate of President William Ruto, donated Sh. 4 million at two fundraising events in Kericho and Kapsabet. The Kapsabet event took place at the Holy Family Catholic Church Ngenybokurio. That same weekend, he also donated Sh. 1 million to a women’s Sacco in Bomet, according to the newspaper.
These are not the only high-profile donations made by Oscar Sudi. In April, as reported by the Standard, he donated Sh. 3 million at the Kapcherop Catholic Church in Marakwet East. Later, at the African Inland Church (AIC) in Kipkorgot, Ainabkoi constituency in Uasin Gishu, he donated Sh. 2 million and another Sh. 2 million, which he stated was from President Ruto.
Explaining his reasons for the donations, Oscar Sudi was quoted by the Standard as saying he was following President Ruto’s example. “William Ruto infected me with generosity, and I am following in his footsteps because he is now in the biggest office in Kenya and has limited time to attend and contribute to church fundraising,” Sudi stated.
As his donations continue to rise by the millions every weekend, questions have emerged regarding the source of his funds, with some calling for an investigation. Others, however, see no issue with his generosity.
