Controversial political activist and Raila Odinga’s diehard supporter Nuru Okanga has once again attacked President William Ruto, questioning his credibility after the Head of State promised to transform Kenya into a nation similar to Singapore.
Speaking during a street interview that has since gone viral, Okanga mocked President Ruto’s comparison, claiming the President has never even visited Singapore to understand what makes it one of the most developed countries in the world.
“Wewe mwenyewe hujawahi kanyaga Singapore, lakini unatuambia unataka kubadilisha Kenya kama Singapore!” Okanga said, attracting laughter from bystanders.
Okanga accused the Kenya Kwanza administration of misleading Kenyans with unrealistic promises, arguing that the country is still struggling with high taxes, unemployment, and the rising cost of living. He further said that before comparing Kenya to developed nations, the government should first deal with corruption and improve service delivery to ordinary citizens.
His remarks have drawn mixed reactions online. Some Kenyans agreed with him, saying the government should focus on practical solutions rather than political rhetoric. Others, however, dismissed Okanga’s comments as mere opposition propaganda meant to discredit the President’s development agenda.
Okanga, who has become a popular figure for his fearless and often humorous criticism of top leaders, has continued to use his platform to speak out on national issues affecting common citizens. His latest comments add to the growing debate on whether Kenya’s leadership can realistically achieve the ambitious transformation vision often compared to Singapore’s economic model.
