Kiharu Member of Parliament, Ndindi Nyoro, has declared his unequivocal support for Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, asserting that Gachagua is the de facto political leader of the Mt Kenya region.
Nyoro expressed his endorsement during a fundraising event at Bishop Gatimu Kinyona Girls in Murang’a County. The event, hosted by nominated Member of Parliament Sabina Chege and attended by Rigathi Gachagua, saw Nyoro affirming his allegiance to both Deputy President William Ruto and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
During his speech, Nyoro assured Gachagua and the Deputy President of unwavering support from leaders within the UDA party. He stated, “Deputy President, we will stand by you and the President without any conditions.”
Highlighting the government’s efforts in advancing the education system nationwide, Nyoro commended the initiatives taken by the leadership.
These statements from Nyoro come in the wake of recent assertions by some Murang’a leaders, led by Gatanga MP Edward Muriu, who previously suggested Ndindi Nyoro as a potential deputy to Ruto in 2027. However, they have since retracted their endorsement of Nyoro and shifted their allegiance to Gachagua as the preeminent political figure in the Mt Kenya region.
The event in Murang’a marked the first public appearance together for Gachagua and Ndindi since the endorsement, triggering speculation about power dynamics and potential conflicts between the two leaders.
