Two minors aged 10 and 12 are among teenagers who were reported pregnant in the months of June in Murang’a as confirmed by the county’s Executive Officer for Health, Joseph Mbai.
In a report, Mbai said that over 365 girls have fallen victim of teenage pregnancies adding that the figures were recorded from various health facilities in the county.
He added that the government needs to come up with strict measures to curb the menace where he divulged that most defile cases goe unreported for fear of stigmatization.
Anyone who defiles a minor is a criminal and deserves to be punished,
Mbai said.
“It’s unfair and unlawful if a parent happens to engage in accepting bribes as little as Sh5,000 to compromise justice for their child who has been defiled and impregnated, ” Mbai remarked.
