Lindah Oguttu, formerly a prominent news anchor at KTN, has transitioned to a new role at mjengo following her departure from the network.Oguttu’s abrupt exit from KTN sparked significant public interest.
Having served as a key figure at the network for three years, she announced her decision to step down as KTN’s public face in order to assume responsibilities at the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Secretariat.
Her involvement in efforts to address the complex issues facing local sports, particularly Kenya’s FIFA suspension, was notable. Reports suggest that her full-time commitment to the FKF Secretariat conflicted with her journalistic duties at KTN, ultimately leading to her departure from the Standard Group, KTN’s parent company. Allegedly, negative coverage of FKF became a regular feature, making Oguttu’s departure opportune as the Standard Group sought to streamline operations and cut costs.
In recent years, the Standard Group has implemented cost-cutting measures by downsizing its workforce, replacing senior staff with younger, more economically viable alternatives. Oguttu had joined KTN from NTV during a period of intense competition between the two networks, reportedly drawn by a substantial six-figure salary offer.
