“Many will say I’ve been moved to a lesser department, but I’m going to make that office big” – Geoffrey Mosiria.

Nairobi County Executive Geoffrey Mosiria has responded to public speculation after being reassigned to a new docket within the county government. Speaking confidently after the announcement, Mosiria dismissed claims that he had been demoted or moved to a less influential office, insisting that every position offers room for impact and transformation.

“Many will say I’ve been moved to a lesser department, but I’m going to make that office big,” Mosiria stated, stressing that leadership is not defined by the size of an office but by the results delivered. He added that he intends to use his new role to drive reforms, streamline operations, and create visibility for the department.

Mosiria emphasized that his focus is on service delivery and ensuring that Nairobi residents feel the impact of the government at all levels. He also noted that restructuring within government is normal and should not be viewed as a punishment but as an opportunity to strengthen different sectors.

His remarks come amid ongoing discussions about recent reshuffles within the county administration, with some critics interpreting the changes as targeting certain officials. Supporters, however, argue that Mosiria’s experience and energy could help transform whichever department he heads.

Mosiria maintained that his commitment to public service remains unchanged and promised to exceed expectations in his new mandate.
