A somber mood has engulfed Maai Mahiu after the brutal killing of 29-year-old Naomi Wangari, a hotel operator and mother of two, in what is suspected to be a deadly love triangle.
Wangari mysteriously disappeared on August 23, 2025, shortly after receiving a brief phone call while having supper with her children at their home in Mlolongo. She assured them she would return soon but never came back.
Her father, Elisha Mburu, reported the matter to police when frantic searches across hospitals, police stations, and even social media appeals yielded no leads. For nearly two weeks, the family clung to hope—until their worst fears were confirmed.
According to neighbor John Ngugi, a mortuary attendant at Nairobi Funeral Home reached out to the family after a body matching Wangari’s description was delivered. Investigators later confirmed that she had been killed in what appeared to be a well-planned attack.
In a chilling revelation, Ngugi explained that her murder had been disguised as a road accident. Her body showed signs of having been dragged onto a road and run over by an unknown vehicle, a tactic meant to conceal the crime.
Even more shocking was the discovery that Wangari had been killed alongside her new boyfriend, whom she had recently started dating after ending a previous relationship. This revelation fueled speculation that her jealous ex-lover may have orchestrated the attack.
Villagers have continued streaming into the Mburu homestead to comfort the grieving family as burial arrangements get underway. Meanwhile, relatives are demanding swift justice, urging police to move with speed and unravel the truth behind the mysterious double murder.
