Makena Njeri
The former Tahidi High actress and LGBTQ activist openly acknowledged being gay and how challenging it was to live with the social standards that it was against the law.
She claims she has no regrets about coming out because it allowed her to understand herself far better than she did while she was trying to lead an ordinary life.
“I remember looking at myself in the mirror for the first time in my life after very many years and saying to myself, “I am gay, I am unique, and this is my truth.” She said.

Silas Miami
He is Louis Otieno’s son, the popular and seasoned journalist.
When Silas wrote that he was married to an individual named Patrick and praised him as a kind and caring partner, he left Kenyans in shock via social media as he publicly declared his sexual orientation.
Silas says he married the person because possessed all the qualities: goodness, bravery, honesty, etc. While all of that is lovely and all, he didn’t marry him for that reason. “In fact, neither of us believed in marriage. We still don’t. But after months of us looking at options for what companionship would look like, especially seeing as travel isn’t exactly easy for us, we settled on going for it,” he added.
Noti Flow
Years ago, Noti Flow launched a song in solidarity with the gay community. In the music video, she came out as LGBTQIA+ officially. Ezekiel Mutua, the former head of the Kenya Films and Classification Board (KFCB), imposed the ban on the video immediately classifying it immoral and not fit for public consumption.
The artist openly identifies as bisexual in an interview and claimed that she was capable of falling in love with either men or women.
Willis Chimano
He’s a Sauti Sol group member. Chimano claimed in an interview with a local media that he could no longer keep it secret and remain silent and so chose to speak out while on tour to support his solo album, “Friday Feeling.” “It is the first time I am expressing myself in a song. You get to know who Chimano is and that is a heavy crown to carry. It is just a representation of the underground ballroom culture within the queer community, which I am part of.” he said.
Mpenzi Chokuu
Mpenzi Chokuu is a gay fitness model from Kenya who lives in Germany. He also adores flaunting his toned physique online.
The outspoken, no-nonsense LGBTQ member enjoys posting pictures of himself online showing his behinds shamelessly. She works out hard to get bigger behinds by training in the gym so he looks more like a lady.

In September, 2022, the 24-year-old artist came out as a lesbian on one of her live performances, where she introduced and even kissed her girlfriend.
