According to Jalang’o, some of these media personalities bring huge profits to radio stations through hard work and consistency. For instance, the morning shows on radio stations such as Kiss 100, Classic 105, and Hot 96 can make at least Shs 20 million per week. Therefore, the presenters who generate significant traffic and views receive substantial compensation.

“There are radio presenters who earn over Shs 3 million per month. For example, why shouldn’t you earn Shs 5 million when your show makes Shs 20 million in a week?” Jalang’o

Mzee Jalas further revealed the radio hosts who are on another level; that’s Maina Kageni and Mwalimu King’ang’i. These two veterans in the media industry have worked together for over a decade, and their show at Classic 105 is very popular.

As a result, when the Classic 105 morning show is hosted by Maina Kageni, it makes at least Shs 10 million per day, according to Jalang’o. This huge revenue is earned through several commercial breaks and sponsored content in the morning show. For example, numerous adverts run during every short break, and before & after the news segments. As a reward, Mwalimu King’ang’i and Maina are paid over Shs 3 million thanks to their ability to drive many views.

“Mwalimu King’ang’i na Maina Kageni walipita Shs 3 million kitambo sana. Easily, when Maina seats on a show, he makes Shs 10 million per day.” Jalang’o revealed

To achieve great milestones in radio, one needs consistency, research, and hard work, just like Maina and King’ang’i.
