Konshens Embraces His Kenyan Name ‘Otieno’ in New Song With Boutross Munene

In his latest song collaboration with Kenyan rapper Boutross Munene, Jamaican dancehall artist Konshens has embraced his given Kenyan name, Otieno. Konshens, who has developed a deep connection and love for Kenya, was bestowed the name by the locals. In the remix of Angela, Konshens introduces himself as Otieno, expressing his appreciation for the name and the country.

Konshens has also been given a Kenyan national identification card with his new name and birthplace listed as Kisumu, Kenya. The name Otieno is commonly used as a surname among the Luo people of Kenya and is traditionally a boy’s name, meaning “born at night.”

During his visit to Kenya last year, Konshens’ adoption of his Kenyan name was celebrated and appreciated by Kenyans after a New Year’s Eve concert at the Carnivore Grounds. Konshens expressed his love for Kenya and the strong bond he has developed with the country, promising to return in the next two to three years.
