The Kenya men’s Rugby Sevens team, Shujaa, is set to make its much-anticipated return to the HSBC SVNS series with the start of the 2025 season this November.
Shujaa regained its core team status after a decisive 33-15 victory over Germany in the 2024 Challenger Series final, which took place in Madrid on June 2, 2024.
After the successful debut of rugby sevens at the Paris Olympics, World Rugby has announced the initial five locations and dates for the eagerly awaited HSBC SVNS 2025 series, with more events expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.
The series will kick off with the Emirates Dubai Sevens, scheduled from November 30 to December 1, 2024, at The Sevens Stadium. The second leg will follow at the DHL Stadium in Cape Town on December 7-8, 2024.
In addition to Shujaa and Uruguay, which are returning as core teams, the series will feature defending champions Argentina, along with Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, France, Fiji, South Africa, Great Britain, USA, and Spain.
World Rugby has indicated that discussions with additional host cities are ongoing, with more details about the remaining SVNS 2025 events, including the Grand Final, to be announced soon.
