June Onguko: Lugulu Girls Alumna Who Rose from Selling Sukuma Wiki to Owning a Multi-billion Real Estate in the USA

June Onguko, a prominent figure in the real estate sector, has a journey that resonates with many due to her remarkable rise from humble beginnings in Western Kenya to success in the United States, a land renowned for its opportunities.

In a recent interview with Chamms Media, June reflected on her challenging upbringing, where she started entrepreneurial ventures at a young age, including selling vegetables and charcoal. Her determination paved the way for her education at Lugulu Girls High School in Webuye, Bungoma County, where she completed her studies in 1996. Her breakthrough came when she earned an opportunity to further her education in the United States.

June pursued Business Management at Keller Graduate School of Management from 2011 to 2013, which equipped her with essential skills for her entrepreneurial journey. Armed with both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Business Management, she initially ventured into the corporate world but soon discovered her passion for entrepreneurship.

In 2017, June founded June Properties Limited in Texas, USA, focusing on fulfilling the American dream of homeownership by providing a wide array of real estate services, from sales and purchases to investment consulting. Her husband later joined the company, contributing his financial and managerial expertise, which was instrumental in the firm’s growth.

Today, June Properties Limited facilitates the sale of approximately four homes per month and supports local residents in all aspects of home transactions, including buying, selling, renting, and leasing.

June Onguko’s impact extends beyond real estate transactions; she has significantly contributed to the community’s prosperity. Reflecting on the real estate market in Houston, she noted substantial growth over the years, with median home prices rising from Ksh 22 million to Ksh 29.3 million when she began, to Ksh 66 million to Ksh 73.4 million presently.
