“Jalango ni mchoyo sana ” The Tale of Jalang’o’s Lookalike: Mutisya’s Struggles and Aspirations

In a world where celebrity lookalikes often find themselves in the spotlight, Stanley Mulee Mutisya’s story is particularly unique. Despite his uncanny resemblance to Lang’ata Member of Parliament (MP) Jalang’o, Mutisya claims he has received little support from the well-known politician.

Mutisya first crossed paths with Jalang’o in November 2021 during an interview on Jalang’o TV. During this meeting, Jalang’o gave him KSh 1,000, a gesture that Mutisya believes fell short of the promises made. “People often mistake me for Jalang’o and approach me for handouts. He only gave me KSh 1,000 and promised to help me, but he never followed through. It’s been three years now, and he doesn’t even answer my calls,” Mutisya lamented.

The resemblance has brought not only public attention but also personal challenges. Mutisya shared a conversation with his father after finishing school, where his father questioned the benefits of looking like Jalang’o, asking, “So what has this Jalang’o, who you resemble, done for you so far? If he can’t help you, what’s the point?” This sentiment mirrors Mutisya’s own frustrations as he continues to struggle with everyday expenses despite his celebrity lookalike status.

Even his landlord has added to the pressure, often questioning why someone who looks like an MP struggles to pay rent on time. “Even my landlord asks me, ‘You look like the Lang’ata MP, yet you’re still late on rent,’” Mutisya shared.

Despite these challenges, Mutisya remains hopeful about his future. He has expressed a strong desire to enter politics and make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. “Soon, I will become an MP, and I won’t forget the people who supported me along the way. If I meet someone on the street who needs help, I will assist them. I won’t be greedy when I succeed,” he vowed.

Mutisya also plans to follow in Jalang’o’s footsteps by pursuing opportunities in advertising and content creation. “I can take on advertising jobs like the ones Jalang’o used to do. I want to follow his path and start creating content to post online,” he said.
