Ambassador Daniel Koikai, father of the late media personality and reggae music MC Mary Njambi, also known as Fyah Mummah Jahmby Koikai, has passed away.
Mr. Koikai’s death is believed to have occurred during his daughter’s burial ceremony at Lang’ata Cemetery. The tragic news surfaced just hours after Mr. Koikai delivered a heartfelt tribute to his daughter, who had succumbed to a long battle with endometriosis.
Details surrounding Mr. Daniel Koikai’s death remain unclear, but reports suggest suicide. His body was discovered by a family member at his home on Friday morning.
During the burial ceremony on Thursday, June 13th, Ambassador Koikai expressed deep remorse over his perceived shortcomings as a parent in his eulogy for his daughter. He said, “Dear Njambi, my daughter, the time has come for me to atone for my acts of omission or commission on your final journey from this world. It has been one of the most difficult episodes in my life, especially for your close family members – your mother, sister, aunts, uncles, colleagues in the media, and friends both in and out of the country.”
He continued, “I will remember you in many ways, and I ask here in public, where I may not have fulfilled my duties as your dad, please forgive me, forgive me, and forgive me. And I pray that your soul will rest in eternal peace. Till we meet again, bye-bye.”
Jahmby was buried at Lang’ata Cemetery next to her late grandmother, as per her last wish, in a ceremony attended by family and friends from the media industry. Notable attendees included radio personalities Larry Asego, Mbusii, Jacky Vike, Talia Oyando, Larry Madowo, Bernard Ndong, Njugush, Celestine Ndinda, Eddie Butita, Ciku Muiruri, Kris Darling, Senator Gloria Orwoba, Radio Jambo’s Lion Deh, Super Marcus, MC Gogo, and comedian Osoro.
