Daniel Koikai, the father of the late media personality and reggae emcee Njambi Koikai, has reportedly taken his own life.
Daniel Koikai’s tragic death occurred on the eve of his daughter’s burial at Lang’ata Cemetery. Sources indicate that his death was self-inflicted.
The day before, on June 13, 2024, Mr. Koikai paid an emotional tribute to his daughter during her memorial service, expressing deep regret for not being more present in her life.
“Dear Njambi, my daughter, the time has come for me to atone for my acts of omission or commission on your final journey from this world. It has been one of the most difficult episodes in my life, especially for your close family members – your mother, sister, aunts, uncles, and colleagues in the media, as well as friends in and out of the country,” Daniel Koikai said.
He shared that it was only when Njambi reached high school that they had the chance to reconnect.
“It is only when you got to Form One and I was back in the country that we were able to meet when you came to the office to look for me.”
Despite the physical distance, he ensured that he provided for her education and supported her in various ways.
Njambi Koikai, affectionately known as Fyah Mummah, succumbed to a prolonged battle with endometriosis and passed away at Nairobi Hospital. Her funeral took place at Lang’ata Cemetery, where she was laid to rest.
