Isaac Mwaura THE Government Spokesman Says all Pupils of Hillside Endarasha Academy Have Been Accounted for

Government Spokesman Isaac Mwaura has confirmed that all pupils of Hillside Endarasha Academy have been accounted for following the tragic fire incident.

According to Mwaura, out of the 330 boarders at the school, all 164 boys have been accounted for, and 166 girls have been safely sent home. Unfortunately, 19 boys lost their lives on the spot, and two more succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment at the hospital. The parents of the deceased are yet to identify their children’s bodies.

“Out of the 330 pupils in the school’s boarding facility—166 girls and 164 boys—all the girls have returned home safely to their parents, and all the boys have been accounted for. However, the parents of the 19 learners who succumbed are yet to identify their children. They will be proceeding to Naromoru for autopsy and processing. They will also receive mental health and psychosocial support,” Mwaura stated.

While the exact cause of the fire has yet to be determined, the government assures the public that all relevant agencies have been mobilized and are working tirelessly to conduct thorough investigations.

Neighbours of the Endarasha Hillside Academy were among the first responders to the tragic events of Thursday night, which resulted in the deaths of 21 boys. Despite their best efforts, the flames and thick smoke were overwhelming, making it difficult to save more lives. Many of the victims were between the ages of 9 and 13.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to the families affected by this tragedy. May the young souls rest in peace.
