Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has once again made headlines after boldly announcing his plan to vie for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in 2027 and later contest for the presidency in 2032. Speaking during a public event, the outspoken legislator said he intends to serve Nairobi for only one term (WANTAM) before shifting his focus to national leadership.
Babu Owino declared that his decision is part of a broader political strategy, revealing that by 2032, the presidential seat will be vacant — creating a perfect opportunity for him to step up and lead the country.
“I will serve Nairobi as Governor for one term, then seek the presidency in 2032 because the seat will be empty,” Babu Owino confidently stated.
The youthful MP, known for his fiery speeches and bold personality, said his leadership vision centers on empowering the youth, transforming education, and restoring dignity in governance. He emphasized that his political journey has prepared him to handle both county and national leadership.
Babu further criticized leaders who, according to him, have failed to deliver tangible results to Kenyans despite occupying powerful positions for years. He assured his supporters that his leadership would prioritize integrity, accountability, and innovation.
His declaration has drawn mixed reactions across the political scene. Supporters hailed his ambition and confidence, describing him as a visionary leader ready to challenge the status quo. However, critics dismissed his presidential dream as unrealistic, citing Kenya’s deeply rooted political hierarchy and alliances.
As the 2027 and 2032 elections approach, Babu Owino’s statement has added a new twist to Kenya’s ever-dynamic political landscape — one that continues to be shaped by youthful leaders seeking to redefine the country’s future.
