I Love Wamunyoro: Rigathi Gachagua Flaunts this Sign at his Rural Home

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has stirred reactions online after displaying a customised sign that reads “I love Wamunyoro.” The sign, featuring bold white letters and a bright red heart, was seen at his Wamunyoro residence, catching the attention of many Kenyans on social media.

Gachagua has been actively involved in political consultations in recent weeks. On this occasion, he hosted leaders from both Nakuru and Embu counties. Sharing updates through his official social media accounts, Gachagua thanked the Embu delegation, stating:

“At Wamunyoro Residence, I heard the people of Embu County. I will be with you every step of the way towards a better Kenya where no one is left behind.”

The Embu team was led by Gitonga Mukunji, the Manyatta MP and chairman of the Young Parliamentarians Association, along with other local leaders.

He also met with a delegation from Nakuru County, including Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara. Gachagua acknowledged their visit by emphasizing the importance of their voices in shaping the country’s future:

“One more time, I have strongly heard your voice, the great people of Nakuru County. Your voice of reason, which for a long time has remained unheard, matters to the liberation journey—just like all other Kenyans’ voices do.”

While the meetings were significant, the uniquely designed “I Love Wamunyoro” sign became a talking point among his followers. Social media users were quick to comment, with many expressing amusement and admiration:

  • Prospect Intelligence Unit: “Kwani mmeigeuza recreational center?”
  • Nelly Lasoi: “Talk of making lemonade with lemons thrown to you.”
  • Kiki Ka Yunna: “Eeeiiyyyy I love Wamunyoro got me.”
  • Moses M. Wagura: “I want a photo at I Love Wamunyoro.”

Political observers have previously noted a growing trend where Kenyan politicians identify more closely with their home villages. Experts suggest that this approach fosters community pride and strengthens grassroots support, although it can also contribute to ethnic divisions.

Gachagua’s ongoing consultations signal his continued involvement in shaping local and national conversations. Whether through policy or personality, he continues to capture public attention—this time, with a simple yet symbolic message of pride in his roots.
